Some very cool things have been going on, and I'm so excited about upcoming things as well!
What I'm most excited about right now is things are moving along for the completion of my upcoming CD! I am so thrilled with the band on this project and cannot wait for you to hear it! I have completed the final mixes and mastering, so I'm getting very close to finalizing this project. Believe me, I'll let you know as soon as the release date is announced so pre-orders can begin, and I'm looking forward to booking a really cool CD release show!
But a quick recap of some things that have happened so far:
May was a packed month! Radney Foster released his new CD, "Everything i Should Have Said", and kicked it off with a sold out release party show at the historic Franklin Theatre. It's such a cool venue and the sound there is so great. Then we did a run through Georgia to play the Red Clay Theater which was a blast! And we capped the month off with a performance at the Grand Ole Opry which is always incredible, but was made just a little more special when Ricky Skaggs joined us on stage to play mandolin during "Nobody Wins"! Also, I'm very honored to be included on Radney's new CD, playing mandolin and singing background vocals on the bonus track version of "Whose Heart You Wreck"! Although I may be a bit biased, it is absolutely one of my favorite CD's to come out this year!
One of the coolest parts of the year in Nashville is always the beginning of June during CMA Fest! This year was no exception, and one of my favorite shows to get to play is Billy Yates' Countriest Of The Country! This year, it was held at the Wildhorse Saloon downtown and included an incredible lineup of artists: Jimmy Fortune, Larry Gatlin, Collin Raye, Darryl Worley, and so many more! What a great time and raising money for a great cause, Christmas For The Chidren! A highlight of the night was at the end when Larry Gatlin asked the band to play "All The Gold in California" with him, and then the grand finale when everyone came out on stage to sing "I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair"!
Last week, I played a writers round with Billy Yates and Jimmy Fortune at one of our favorite restaurant venues, Puckett's Grocery in Franklin, TN! If you want some of the best Southern cooking and friendly staff, make sure you check out Puckett's next time you're in the area (they have 5 locations around Nashville). And in a couple days, I'm playing a sold out show at the Bluebird Cafe along with some good friends, Jimmy Payne, Bernie Nelson, and Dave Gibson!
Keep an eye on the calendar, and join me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
See you on the road or around the Row!!
